As I approached the intersection, I saw a crowd forming around a man who had collapsed on the ground. His body was twisted in an unnatural position, and his face contorted in pain. The ambulance had been called, but it was taking forever to arrive.
As I waited with the crowd, a woman stepped forward and knelt down beside the man. She took his hand and whispered words of comfort to him. I couldn’t hear what she was saying, but I could see the calming effect it had on him.
Eventually, the ambulance arrived, and the paramedics rushed to attend to the man. As they lifted him onto the stretcher, the woman who had comforted him stepped forward and introduced herself as his wife. She explained that he had been dealing with a serious illness and that his collapse was not unexpected.
The emotional weight of the situation hit me, and I couldn’t help but feel for this woman and her husband. It reminded me of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing the time we have with our loved ones.
